Giulia Luraghi was born in Legnano (Italy) in 1991. She received the Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in April 2016 and the Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in December 2019 with a thesis entitled “An in silico evaluation of cardiovascular devices by fluid-structure interaction simulations”. She carried out research in Biomechanics, focused on finite-element structural, finite-volume fluid-dynamics and fluid-structure interaction simulations and reduced order-modeling techniques. She is currently a Post-Doc Researcher at Politecnico di Milano, working for the H2020 project named IN Silico clinical trials for acute Ischemic STroke (INSIST) on in silico thrombectomy models. She received the Best Student Award (Virtual Physiological Human Conference 2018), the Best Thematic Presentation for an in silico model for industrial translation (IX Meeting of the European Society of Biomechanics Italian Chapter) and the Master Degree award “Novel Trends in Biomedical Engineering” (XXVI GNB 2016). She has authored 9 peer-reviewed international journals as junior researcher. She is a member of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB) and the Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) Institute since 2017.
